Pans/Pandas & Autism in Children
What exactly is PANS and PANDAS?
PANS (Pediatric Acute-Onset Neuropsychiatric Syndrome) and PANDAS (Pediatric Autoimmune Neuropsychiatric Disorders Associated with Streptococcal Infections) are complex disorders that can have a profound impact on the lives of those affected.
A child diagnosed with pediatric acute-onset neuropsychiatric syndrome (PANS) has sudden, sometimes instantaneous onset of neuropsychiatric symptoms, such as food restriction or obsessions/compulsions.
Similar to PANS, PANDAS (pediatric autoimmune neuropsychiatric disorder associated with streptococcal infections) affects children and is characterized by an initial onset of neuropsychiatric symptoms, such as OCD or tics (uncontrollable, purposeless motions), that occurs in 2 to 3 days.
Sudden anxiety or OCD like behaviors
Tics or motor changes
Mood swings or irritability
Sleep disruption
Regression in skills or behavior
Heightened sensory or emotional responses
Many children are misdiagnosed, and their symptoms are medicated, rather than eliminated by addressing the root cause.
With the right management and support, children can experience significant improvement in their symptoms and overall quality of life.

At Remnant Healthcare we are passionate about providing a comprehensive and compassionate approach to managing these conditions. Our new comprehensive services includes a holistic support program in a cost-effective package, saving families time and money. Our team of experienced practitioners will work closely with families to develop personalized plans that address the unique needs of each child.

Families Often Report:
-
A sudden increase in obsessive or repetitive behaviors
-
New or worsening tics, fears, or separation anxiety
-
More intense meltdowns, irritability, or emotional lability
-
Changes in eating, sleep, focus, or sensory tolerance
A Holistic Perspective
Individualized care that looks beyond the diagnosis
Utilizing a holistic approach focuses on your child’s unique symptom picture. Instead of using a one-size-fits-all approach, care is based on emotional and behavioral changes, physical symptoms, sensitivities, triggers, and the way symptoms show up over time.

Physical Symptoms
Sleep, digestion, sensory sensitivities, appetite, energy, and overall regulation.
Possible Triggers
Illness, infection, environmental stressors, and patterns surrounding flare-ups.
Emotional Patterns
Anxiety, irritability, fears, mood changes, and how your child responds under stress.
Whole-Child History
Temperament, developmental changes, and the full timeline of what has shifted.
Support emotional steadiness
Encourage better sleep patterns
Promote overall resilience
Help reduce intensity of flare-ups
Support regulation after illness
Address the full symptom picture
Why families choose this approach
Many parents are looking for care that is gentle, thoughtful, and personalized. Our guidance aims to support the body’s natural ability to regulate and rebalance while taking into account the child’s complete physical, emotional, and behavioral picture.
This approach is not about reducing your child to a diagnosis. It is about understanding what has changed, what seems to trigger symptoms, and what kind of support may help your child feel more stable and resilient over time.
